Chapter Accomplishments since 1999

For Students

• Awarded over $85,000 in scholarships to 29 students from South Florida attending Spelman College.
• Hosted Blue Diamond Teen Brunch for top female high school students in West Palm Beach.
• Sent care packages to freshman from South Florida attending Spelman College.
• Participated in local college fairs to inform and recruit students.
• Attend Admissions Office receptions.
• Provide holiday socials and gifts and supplies to freshman, sophomores, junior and seniors returning to Spelman.

Community Service

• Participate annually in 5K races for charities. Have raised over $1,000 for these charities (Susan Komen Race for the Cure, Sickle Cell Disease Association of Miami, Martin Luther King, Jr. 5K)
• Established a relationship with 100 Black Men of South Florida and serve as volunteers to assist with their annual Christmas shopping spree for underprivileged children sponsored by Target and Walmart.
• Served as Presenting Sponsor for the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association Judicial Candidate Breakfast.

Social/Fellowship

• Quarterly meetings in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
• Hold annual Spelman/Morehouse College summer socials for students and alumni.
• Host annual Founders Day worship service and meeting.
• Attend book signings for former Spelman College President Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum and alumna Tayari Jones.
• Host game nights, happy hours and holiday socials.
• Reserved table at United Way Annual Women’s Breakfast where Dr. Johnnetta Cole spoke.
• Attend events throughout South Florida.

Fundraisers

• Hosted Summer Soul: Party With A Purpose Fundraiser from 2001-2005. Awarded scholarships and honored alumnae.
• Hosts All That Jazz: Scholarship Fundraiser from 2006-Present. Award scholarships and honor alumnae.
• Sold group tickets to The Lion King and Alvin Ailey at the Arsht Center and Motown the Musical at the Kravis Center.
• Created chapter t-shirts and note cards.
• Raffled tickets for participation in the Winterfest Boat Parade.
